about frank.

ABOUT

frank. is a project that directly addresses the challenges of the fashion industry and its impact on the environment. Clothing made from recycled materials such as plastic bags highlight the problems of environmental pollution and the throwaway society. The project is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also conveys a deeper message to inspire reflection and action.

MISSION

frank. strives to inspire people to recognize their own responsibility towards our planet and accept it as binding.

WHY NOT
FAST FASHION

INTENTION

The glitzy world of fashion is full of glittering shop windows and trendy catwalks, but behind the scenes there's a less glamorous side.

The fashion industry is one of the planet's biggest polluters and is knee-deep in social injustice. It's like the rock star who trashes hotel rooms and expects someone else to clean up the mess.

That's where frank. comes in, ready to blow the lid off these issues with clear facts and honest communication. By shining a light on these abuses, frank. is paving the way for a fashion future that's not only stylish, but sustainable.

Time to swap the fast fashion fix for a planet-friendly wardrobe makeover!

Fast fashion is all about churning out clothes quickly and cheaply to ride the latest wave of trends, but the real cost is far more than a discounted price tag. Here's the lowdown:

CO2

Carbon footprint disaster – The fashion industry pumps out more CO2 emissions than international air and sea transport combined. In 2015 alone, fashion production released 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalents into the atmosphere. It's a truly frightening statistic that cries out for urgent change.

2,7K

Resource depletion – It takes up to 2,700 litres of water to produce just one cotton T-shirt - enough to keep a person hydrated for two and a half years! Conventional cotton farming also dumps pesticides and fertilisers on our planet, polluting the soil and poisoning our water supplies.

65%

The threat of microplastics – Synthetic fibres such as polyester, which make up around 65 per cent of all textiles, are a major source of microplastic pollution. Every time these clothes are washed, they shed tiny plastic particles that pass through water filters and end up polluting our oceans.

Appalling working conditions – Fast fashion is often made in developing countries, where workers are paid peanuts and toil in dangerous conditions. These injustices are hidden behind glitzy shop fronts while Western consumers snap up cheap clothes.

So next time you're looking for a bargain, remember there's a hidden cost - our planet and our people. Let's put the brakes on fast fashion and switch to a more sustainable style!

WHO WE ARE

  • FOUNDER

I hope to get people thinking about taking responsibility for our planet, and that's how the idea for frank. came about.

During my training as a fashion designer, I quickly realised that the fashion world wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
I was feeling pretty dissatisfied and world-weary, so I started thinking about a really important question; What can I do to make a difference?

I believe that good design is the best way to connect with people. I'm looking to make a positive impact on the world through sustainable design and innovative concepts.

While I was studying Communication Design, I started to get a feel for what I wanted to do with my project. I wanted to share my fashion knowledge in a constructive and encouraging way, rather than in a critical manner.

Change can only happen where the mind strives for it. Only those who understand that they can make a difference will act responsibly – and see the privilege that comes with it.

So frank. was born, with a mission to get people to ask themselves; What can I do to make a difference?

Because, let's face it, if we don't start asking the tough questions, who will?

  • I met Lynn during our graphic design studies, and it quickly became clear that we make a fantastic team.

One day, she asked if I'd assist her with a photoshoot for frank. I jumped at the chance right away, as the project was truly inspiring.

Since then, I've been supporting her in various roles—whether as a photographer, a creative partner, or simply an extra pair of hands whenever she needs me.
